Hanumakonda: A senior govt auditor was on Wednesday sentenced to one year in jail in a bribery case.
The accused officer, Kanakam Chandraiah, was working as senior auditor in the district audit office (special cell) in Warangal. He was caught by the sleuths of Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) while accepting 2,500 bribe from a complainant in exchange for an official favour, according to a press release.
The officer was also asked to pay 10,000 fine for the offence, said ACB (Warangal range) deputy superintendent of police P Sambaiah.
Special Judge for corruption cases Mohd Afroz Akthar convicted the accused officer under Prevention of Corruption Act.
