Prayagraj: City police on Wednesday claimed to have busted a child lifters’ gang and arrested four of its key members, including a woman, near Dadri village.
The cops have also rescued a 2-year-old boy from their clutches whom they were planning to sell.
Those arrested were Bulaki Balmiki (35) of Attarsuiya, Suresh Yadav (34) of Gorakhpur, Shalu Balmiki (26) of Shahganj and Gudia alias Juli (27) of Dhoomanganj.
ACP (Kotwali) SP Tiwari told TOI that acting on a specific tip-off, a team of Shahganj police raided a spot near Naini area and rescued the minor boy who was allegedly lifted by the gang near Leader Road three days back.
He added that the gang, after lifting minors or infants from railway stations, bus stands and hospitals, used to sell them in other states.
The gang targeted infants and minors (1 to 5 years) who stayed near platforms or other public places. The ACP said an FIR under sections 363, 363 A and 311 of IPC was registered and further probe was on.
