Chandigarh: An application has been filed before the Punjab and Haryana high court seeking directions for holding a judicial inquiry by a retired high court judge assisted by DGP Punjab into the ‘homicide’ of Shubhkaran Singh, a resident of Bathinda, and violent action by Haryana police/paramilitary forces.
Directions have also been sought to the Haryana govt to place on record the complete data of teargas shells, pellet guns and rubber/real bullets used by the police/para-military forces before the HC, to enable the court to ascertain whether the force used was reasonable or indiscriminate. The intervening application has been filed by Harinder Pal Singh Ishar, a resident of Mohali, for impleading him as party in the ongoing plea filed by Uday Pratap Singh against the sealing of borders and suspension of internet in Haryana. The petition would come up for hearing on February 29. The application has been filed for urgent interim order to stay all obstructive actions by the Centre, govts of Haryana and Punjab against farmers’ peaceful protests.
Hry AG to attend court
In a letter released on Thursday evening, Baldev Raj Mahajan, advocate general Haryana, made it clear that the AG office is not supporting the call given by the executive committee of the HC bar to abstain from work, as the cause does not relate to any member of the legal fraternity.
The AG has directed all the law officers to appear in the court and attend their cases on Friday. tnn
