Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Visit to Tirupur | Coimbatore News – Times of India

Coimbatore: Tirupur is gearing up for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit after a gap of five years.
BJP workers are busy preparing a sprawling ground at Madappur village near Palladam for a public meeting that Modi would address on February 27, marking the culmination of state president K Annamalai’s En Mann En Makkal yatra.
BJP functionaries in Tirupur said this was going to be the biggest ever public meeting organized by the party in Tamil Nadu, with about 10 lakh expected to participate. The meeting venue would have seating arrangements to accommodate five lakh people, a functionary said.
According to the Prime Minister’s Office, Modi would arrive at Sulur airport in Coimbatore on Feb 27 afternoon, from where he would take a chopper to Palladam. After reaching Madappur around 2.45pm, he would participate in the meeting for an hour and leave for Madurai. Modi is scheduled to participate in an event titled ‘Digital Mobility Initiative for Automotive MSMEs’ at TVS Lakshmi School in Madurai. After an overnight stay there, he would visit Tuticorin the next morning to lay foundation stones and inaugurate various projects. Modi would then address a public meeting in Tiruneveli, before leaving for Thiruvananthapuram.
In a novel way to spread the news of Modi’s visit, BJP workers led by state general secretary A P Muruganandam gave away invitations to the public using a humanoid robot.
Muruganandam said cadres from across the state would congregate at Madappur on the day. Many cadres from other states have planned to come in bullock carts and as pada yatra to the meeting, he said.
“There would be a massive change in Tamil Nadu politics after the PM’s visit,” he said. Modi visited Tirupur in 2019 when he addressed a public meeting at Perumanallur in the run-up to the last Lok Sabha election.
The sprawling grounds spread across several acres is being cleaned by dozens of earthmovers, while scores of men are working round-the-clock to put up a giant pandal. Separate enclosures for a kitchen to prepare food for the cadres are also being readied. Simultaneously, work is on to set up a helipad near the meeting venue.
The state machinery is also preparing for the PM’s visit. As many as 6,000 to 10,000 police personnel are likely to be deployed in and around the meeting venue as well as across Tirupur on the day of Modi’s visit.
