Two gangsters held after exchange of fire | Delhi News – Times of India

New Delhi: Notorious gangsters Amir Saleem and Danish Sultan were shot at during a face-off with the Delhi Police’s Crime Branch early on Thursday. The duo work for Lawrence Bishnoi-Hashim Baba syndicate and were demanding protection money from businessmen.
Additional commissioner (crime) Sanjay Bhatia said that the two criminals were wanted in sensational cases of firing at businessmen’s premises in the city.“Acting on a tip-off from an informer, a team comprising ACP Ramesh Lamba and inspectors Pankaj Malik and Rohit Kumar intercepted them in New Usmanpur of northeast Delhi,” said Bhatia.
The criminals were on a scooter without a number plate and opened fire at the cops when they were flagged down. “A bullet struck the bulletproof jacket worn by head constable Gajendra Singh, while another narrowly missed inspector Rohit,” DCP (crime) Amit Goel said.
In retaliation, the cops shot at resulting in both the assailants sustaining bullet injuries on their legs. They were admitted to a hospital for treatment. Police recovered two sophisticated pistols and nine live cartridges.
Saleem, police said, is a close associate of Dubai-based bookie Nitin Jain who introduced him to Bishnoi and his aides.
