Guwahati: Uproar over alleged paper leak in the board exam led to adjournment of the House for 10 minutes on Thursday.
The opposition parties sought an adjournment motion to discuss the anomalies reported in the ongoing Class X and XII state board exams. The speaker, however, turned down the demand. The House re-assembled after 10 minutes but the opposition MLAs remained adamant on their demand. But the speaker again disallowed the adjournment motion after which Congress legislators and Independent MLA Akhil Gogoi staged a walkout from the House.
Parliamentary affairs minister Pijush Hazarika said there has been no incident of question paper leak in the board exams so far this year in Assam.
“In previous years, such anomalies were reported and we discussed those in the House. Later, CID enquiry was given. Govt assured the House that such incidents won’t be repeated but it continues,” said leader of opposition and senior Congress leader Debabrata Saikia. He added that while wrong labelling of question paper packets have been reported in Karbi Anglong and Kokrajhar, a girl student has been injured reportedly in police baton charge in Bilasipara. “What kind of management is this, sir?” Saikia asked.
