Lucknow: An anti-demo vehicle (a scorpio) of district administration that runs ahead of CM’s fleet to clear the convoy from any protest overturned trying to save a stray dog in the way injuring 14 people including two children, six cops and eight pedestrians on Saturday evening, said police.
According to police the accident took place in Mata Mandir near Arjunganj in the state capital around 7:45 pm. “six policemen and eight civilians have been injured in the incident, they have been admitted to different hospitals. There is no casualty in the incident,” the Joint commissioner of Police (Law and order), Lucknow Upendra Kumar Agrawal.
Soon after the accident senior officers including Principal Secretary Home, Sanjay Prasad, DGP Prashant Kumar, and Commissioner of police, Lucknow SB Shiradkar visited the victims at the hospital.
JCP (L&O) Upendra Agarwal in his official version said that the accident happened with district police vehicles including interceptor and anti-demo vehicles which run to protect the fleet of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
“After inquiring the locals where the accident happened, it was revealed that a dog had come on the road or its dead body was already there. The information about the same was shared to the vehicles behind by the interceptor which had crossed. However, the anti-demo vehicle of the district administration was just behind it which crossed the dog due to which it lost control over its tyre and the vehicle became unbalanced and collided with the other vehicles on its right side and few locals standing next to the vehicles,” the JCP said.
