Margao: Attendees of a public meeting held by public-spirited organisations at Lohia Maidan, Margao, demanded the scrapping of “all destructive projects” pushed by the central and state governments, which will destroy the heritage of Goa, its environment, agricultural lands, forests, rivers, and hills.
Social activists who addressed the gathering called upon people to stay united to thwart designs by anti-Goan forces to destroy “Goem, Goenkar, and Goenkarponn.”
Speakers also voiced their demand for dual citizenship and said that the notices for revocation of Indian passports to those who acquired Portuguese citizenship was “a tool to deny the Goenkarponn to our fellow Goans who accepted Portuguese citizenship for better employment prospects and future of their children.” The gathering passed a resolution demanding OCI status and dual citizenship for eligible Goans.
A resolution demanding use of ballot paper for voting and the withdrawal of the EVM machines for elections was also passed.
