Family of Punjab Resident Detained in Haryana Demands Transfer to Punjab for Medical Care | Chandigarh News – Times of India

Rohtak: The family of Punjab resident Preetpal, 27, whom the Haryana cops had detained near the Khanauri border on February 21 and moved to Rohtak’s Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences, claimed to have been prevented from bringing him to either Chandigarh or Ludhiana for treatment.
Preetpal’s brother, Gurjeet Virk, explained that: “Preetpal, an IELTS trainer in Patran, had reached the Khanauri border in search of someone from the family. He was caught in the site’s chaos and a teargas shell exploded near him. His turban got entangled in something during the melee and the Haryana cops then detained him. They left him with a broken jaw, swollen eyes, fractured legs, and stitched skull. We found him in the hospital with these signs of brutality. The cops in civvies around him threatened to frame him for murder attempt. Preetpal is paranoid about his safety at the hospital. We want him in Punjab not to evade justice but to get him the right medical care.”
PGIMS formed a medical board to address the family’s concerns.
