File case first, then conduct autopsy, say farmer unions | Chandigarh News – Times of India

Patiala/Bathinda/Chandigarh: Even after over two days of the death of a young farmer at Khanauri Punjab-Haryana border, reportedly from a bullet injury, the deadlock over allowing his autopsy persisted on Friday.
The family of the victim, Shubhkaran Singh, and leaders of both the farm forums were adamant that a FIR including murder charges be registered against Haryana Police personnel and the Haryana home minister Anil Vij before conducting the post-mortem examination. They also rejected CM Bhagwant Mann’s announcement of Rs 1 crore as compensation for the family of the victim and a government job to his sister.
Shubhkaran’s father Charanjit Singh said the was appreciated, but they wanted justice and registration of FIR. The family, while standing with the farmer leaders in Patiala, also demanded registration of a case against the erring cops. The farmers claimed that Shubkaran was shot in the head instead of legs or arms which was a violation of international rules.
Kisan Mazdur Mukti Morcha leader Sarvan Singh Pandher said, “The Punjab CM has announced to take action and register a FIR, but the officials are claiming that it is not possible.Money is not above ‘justice’. The cremation will be done only after FIR is registered. ”
