Noida: The NCR Transport Corporation is ready with its detailed project report (DPR) for a 72km combined corridor for Rapid Rail and metro that will connect Noida International Airport to the Delhi-Meerut Namo Bharat corridor.
The Noida airport is scheduled for completion this Oct and the Namo Bharat (rapid rail) line by June 2025.
The combined corridor will have 25 stations from Ghaziabad Namo Bharat station to Noida airport. Provisions have been made to add 13 more stations, taking the total number to 38, depending on footfall estimates and population growth along the Yamuna Expressway, which is poised to become a data centre and logistics hubs.
According to the draft project report, which is likely to be tabled before govt on April 4, 11 of the 25 stations will be Namo Bharat stops. The metro service will stop at all stations. Ghaziabad South, Greater Noida West (Char Murti Chowk), Greater Noida Sectors 2 & 12, Surajpur, Pari Chowk, EcoTech VI, Dankaur, YEIDA North (Sector 18), YEIDA Central (Sectors 21, 35) and Noida International Airport (ground transportation centre) will also be Namo Bharat stops.
The 14 other stations on the route are Siddharth Vihar, Greater Noida Sector 16C, EcoTech 12, Greater Noida Sectors 3 & 10, Knowledge Park V, Police Lines Surajpur, Malakpur, EcoTech 2, Knowledge Park III, Gamma I, Omega II, Phi III, and EcoTech IE.
The corridor, which received govt approval last Dec to link Noida airport with Delhi and other parts of NCR, is likely to be completed by 2030. The IGI link through Namo Bharat will, however, only materialise once work on the Delhi-Haryana line of Namo Bharat (to Gurgaon from Sarai Kale Khan) begins. Sarai Kale Khan is the originating station of the Delhi-Meerut corridor.
“Rapid rail aims to provide rapid connectivity between Noida airport and IGI Airport in Delhi, while the metro link will ensure local connectivity,” YEIDA CEO Arun Vir Singh said. The NCRTC, which will develop the entire corridor, will also design raid rail operations to ensure a travel time of under an hour from Noida airport to IGI, which is achievable with a maximum speed of 140 kmph, Singh added.
The NCRTC, which presented the draft report to Yamuna Expressway authority officials on Thursday, has so far undertaken a host of surveys to assess ridership, topography, alignment design and station planning. A few others, including geotechnical, environmental impact assessment, and social impact assessment, are currently under way. Studies on power supply system, cost estimation and financial analysis will be taken up next.
