Prayagraj: The second day of the 29th National Conference of Indian Menopause Society (IMS) ‘IMSCON-2024’ witnessed some interesting sessions on the most discussed topics like holistic management of anti-aging, on Saturday.
Speaking at the conference, chairperson and director of Jeevan Jyoti Hospital, Dr Vandana Bansal spoke on the topic of anti-aging.She said living longer would not be desirable unless you stayed bright-eyed, on your toes, and free from disease throughout those extra years. That’s why it’s important to add life to years and not years to life “WHO in their international disease codebook, declared aging a treatable condition. By 2050, 20% of the world’s nine billion people are expected to be over 60 years old.” Dr Bansal said the common diseases related to aging includes heart problems, hypertension, stroke, hormonal issue, thyroid, diabetes, osteoporosis, osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis etc. “To prevent or delay the onset of age related problems one should add six components of wellness, which includes proper weight and diet, (calorie restriction & longevity), proper exercise, breaking the smoking habit, control of alcohol, stress management and periodic exams and Vaccinations,” said Dr Bansal. She stressed that one also needs to adopt a healthy lifestyle, as healthy habits lead to a healthy mind. This includes proper exercise, yoga, meditation and pranayama in your daily life. Have adequate sleep. Regular health check-ups screening is very important. Regular health screening tests after 40 should include general examinations, she suggested.
Earlier, on friday night, Justice Rahul Chaturvedi of the Allahabad High Court inaugurated the conference at Allahabad Medical Association’s Convention Centre. Renowned doctors from India and abroad are attending the conference organised on the theme: ‘no pause (a new inning), health-happiness-harmony.
