PRAYAGRAJ: A 24-year-old youth from Fatehpur village allegedly killed his mother as she used to scold him for his addiction to online gaming due to which he was burdened with debt. According to police, after killing his mother in Adhauli village under Dhata police station of Fatehpur district when his father was away, he carried the body in a tractor trolley to a nearby riverside and disposed of it.
According to Dhata police, Himanshu Singh was under debt of around Rs 4 lakh due to his addiction to playing an online game. For this, he would be reprimanded by his parents.
“On Friday, Himanshu’s father Roshan Singh lodged an FIR and accused his son of murdering his wife Prabha (50) while he was on a tour to Chitrakoot. Neighbours told us that they had seen Himanshu carrying something on a tractor trolley the day his mother went missing,” said SHO of Dhata police station, Brindavan Rai.
“Since Roshan Singh had named his son in the complaint, we arrested Himanshu on Saturday and during interrogation he confessed to his crime,” said Rai, adding, “He told us he was addicted to online games and was under debt, because of which he had stolen some jewellery from his mother to repay the debt. On this, his parents used to scold him every now and then and even abuse him in front of everyone,” said Rai, quoting Himanshu.
