Ponda: The Bhoma-Adcolna gram sabha on Sunday demanded a new plan for the four-laning of the national highway stretch that passes through the village, even though the Union road transport ministry has already issued a notification for land acquisition.
Four houses and 11 kiosks are due for demolition to make way for the widening of the highway in the village.Govt has also drawn up a plan to rehabiliate people who stand to lose their houses.
Affected villagers are unhappy with the arrangement and pointed out that the plan was hastily drawn up.
They demanded that Union minister Nitin Gadkari be requested to drop the existing plan, and instead draft a new one to save the houses.
Among other issues discussed was the pollution caused by Kundaim industrial units.
Villagers demanded that the panchayat should issue notices to the polluting units.
