Fzr Farmer Dies in Accident on Way to Shambhu Border | Chandigarh News – Times of India

Bathinda: Farmer Gurjant Singh, 33, of Mansoordeva village in Zira subdivision of Punjab’s Ferozepur district died in a road accident near Rajpura in the wee hours of Saturday on way to the Shambhu border protest site.
He was with 12 other farmers aboard a tractor-trailer when a truck hit it from behind and knocked Gurjant off it. Gurjant became sixth farmer to die in this second agitation for the legal right of minimum support price based on the C2+50% formula.The other injured passengers from the tractor-trailer were moved to Rajpura’s civil hospital.
Gurjant Singh was from the BKU (Ekta Sidhupur) consitutent group of the Sanyukt Kisan Morcha (non-political). His family owns 2 acres, with some land on lease for tilling. After losing his father a few years ago, he was taking care of the family that includes a son, daughter, wife, and mother. He was part of the last farmers’ agitation as well.
Fellow Mansoordeva villager Harjinder Singh, driver of the ill-fated tractor-trailer, said the group had left the village on Friday evening and had camped for the night near Khanna.
