Berhampur: A 60-year-old man has been sentenced to life imprisonment by a trial court in Aska on Saturday for hacking his wife to death at their home in 2022.
Prabir Kumar Choudhury, the additional district judge, Aska, has also imposed a fine of Rs 5,000 on the convict, Bijay Pradhan, and ordered him to serve an additional three months in jail if he fails to pay the amount.
Pradhan had killed his wife over a family dispute at Mangalpur under Aska police station limits in Ganjam district on September 25, 2022. The deceased was identified as Manjula Pradhan (50).
Following the killing, Pradhan fled the spot, leaving behind his wife’s body in the house. The next morning, police arrested him from a nearby jungle. A relative of the deceased lodged an FIR against him and subsequently, a murder case was lodged against him. TNN
