Bicholim: The Mulgao gram sabha on Sunday unanimously decided not to allow mining activities in the village unless houses, natural water bodies, temples and agricultural lands are excluded from the lease area.
Sarpanch Trupti Gad said that while Bicholim MLA Chandrakant Shetye had raised the issue in the legislative assembly, govt hasn’t taken any action.
Gram sabha members highlighted that the main lake in the village has been polluted due to the release of mining residue. They demanded that the mining company concerned should be directed to stop polluting the lake.
