Pm Modi Likely To Unveil Dfc From Prayagraj On March 2 | Allahabad News – Times of India

Prayagraj: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to inaugurate the Eastern Dedicated Freight Corridor (DFC) between Sonpur in Bihar and Ludhiana and Western Dedicated Freight Corridor (WDFC) Dadri (Gautam Buddh Nagar) to Navi Mumbai at an event in Prayagraj on March 2.
“If we get approval from the PM’s office, we will start the EDFC and WDFC simultaneously,” said managing director of DFC, Ravindra Kumar.
In view of the proposed programme of the PM, the MD along with NCR GM Ravindra Goyal held a meeting with the officers of DFC and the district and police administrations and inspected the venue at the Parade Ground on Friday evening.
The dedicated freight corridor, built over a total of 2843Km at approximately Rs 1,25,000 crore, will be a game changer in terms of increasing the speed of trains in the country.
The MD said 100% work of EDFC has been completed while 81% of WDFC is over.
“India is moving towards becoming the third biggest economy and by 2047 the country will be in the category of developed countries. Transportation systems are very important for any developed country. At present the share of railways in the country is only 26% whereas in developed countries it is at least 40% and we are going to meet this target with DFC,” he said.
On Feb 23, DFC interchanged 428 trains, which is the highest so far. MD also said currently 120 goods trains are going up and down. The speed has increased from 30 to 50 KPH. Before Maha Kumbh, maximum goods trains will be shifted to DFC. Source said that although the efforts of the DFC officers are that the PM should inaugurate the entire DFC simultaneously, however, it will be known only after getting approval from the Prime Minister’s Office.
There are a total of 114 stations of which EDFC has 66 and WDFC has 48. There are 53 rail flyovers, including 24 in EDFC and 29 under WDFC. About 1337 km stretch of EDFC runs from Sonpur (Bihar) to Ludhiana. Likewise, 1506 km of WDFC runs from Dadri to JNPT, Navi Mumbai, he said.
The DFC’s control room is bigger than that of ISRO, which the PM might come and see, the official added.
The MD said all places are monitored from this control room which is equipped with the state-of-the-art equipment.
The PM may also lay the foundation stone of the permanent works of Maha Kumbh worth about Rs 5,000 crore on Mar 2.
He can lay the foundation stone of PDA, municipal corporation roads, ropeway, Kumbh Kalash Museum, riverfront road, seven pucca ghats, city intersections and the statues of Maharishi Valmiki and Brahmadev.
Besides, the PM can also visit Shringverpur by helicopter. From there, he can go to the Parade ground after inaugurating the statues of Lord Shri Ram and Nishadraj. However, the detailed programme will be known by next week.
