RML launches mentor-mentee programme to provide comprehensive support and guidance to undergraduate students | Delhi News – Times of India

New Delhi: To provide comprehensive support and guidance to undergraduate students, central govt run Atal Bihari Vajpayee Institute of Medical Sciences and Ram Manohar Lohia hospital on Saturday launched mentor-mentee programme for MBBS batches 2022 and 2023.
National Medical Commission chairman, Dr BN Gangadhar, was the chief guest on this occasion.
Director and medical superintendent of the hospital, Dr Ajay Shukla, said the students in the current scenario suffer from a spectrum of stresses ranging from anxiety, depression, low self-esteem, and confidence etc and look towards their seniors for assurance and help. This programme will go a long way in fulfilling this vacuum.
A senior faculty member said that the programme was being carried out as per the NMC mandate. She told TOI that two students have been assigned to one faculty member under the programme. At present, 200 students are studying in these two batches.
“The students will be meeting their mentor on a regular basis. Three months will be an ideal time to meet but initially they would meet more frequently,” said the senior faculty member, adding that the interaction will not only be limited to the academic support, but the holistic development of these medical students as they are coming to a new city and new curriculum.
No specific timelines have been set for interaction; mentees can meet their mentor whenever they want to.
