Sushant Singh Rajput passed away in June 2021 and his death led to the opening up of a lot of drug cases and probe by NCB (Narcotics Control Bureau). The actor’s neighbour Sahil Shah was arrested in the drugs case which came up after Sushant’s death. Sahil was allegedly supplying drugs to city-based drug peddlers.
The sessions court and Bombay High Court had refused to grant him anticipatory bail after the authorities claimed that he was being probed in two more cases, one of them involving actress Rhea Chakraborty, who was dating Sushant. Post that, Sahil had surrendered. Though, he was arrested in just one case, while it was claimed that he supplied ‘ganja’ to two-three more people. In the raid by NCB, Ganesh Shere and Siddharth Amin were arrested with 310gram ganja and Rs. 1.5 lakh cash. They both had said that Shah was their supplier.
However, now, Shah has been discharged from the drug case. The special court in its bail order dated February 3, 2022, observed that the agency had failed to mention the antecedents and any WhatsApp messages between the accused.
Sahil’s lawyer Ayaz Khan had filed a discharge plea in August 2023. Now he has been discharged as the court said, “When the applicant was arrested, none of the phone numbers were recovered from him. There is nothing on record to show that apart from the statement of the co-accused there is any evidence against the applicant.”
