2 Youths Dead, 2 Injured as Concrete Bridge Collapses in Uran | – Times of India

NAVI MUMBAI: Two youths aged 20-25 years have died and two other youths have sustained severe injuries after a concrete bridge over a creek near Dhutum village in Uran taluka collapsed on them while they were fishing under the bridge on Monday around 6.30 pm.
Satish Nikam, senior inspector of Uran police station said, “The four youths who are from Katkari community and were brick kiln workers had gone for fishing in the creek at Dhutum village in Uran taluka. They all were in a boat under the bridge and had spread a fishing net for the catch, when the bridge suddenly collapsed and the concrete debris fell on them. The local residents rushed to the spot and removed them from under the debris.
They were rushed to Uran civic hospital , where two of them were declared brought dead. While two others who had sustained severe injuries were shifted to MGM hospital, Kamothe. The deceased have been identified as Rajesh Waghmare and Avinash Murkute. The injured are Gurunath Katkari and Suresh Waghmare.
Inspector Nikam said, “The concrete bridge has been constructed around 30 years ago for the locals to cross the creek. It is not know as to who has built the bridge. As of now, we have registered an accident death case.”
