Books Lost in Fire: HS and Madhyamik Students Left in a Spot | Kolkata News – Times of India

Kolkata: Several Madhyamik and Higher Secondary students — even though they had a close shave from the devastating fire at Naskarhat Khalpar Sramik Pally — got their books, school uniforms, admit and registration cards charred on Sunday.
Sonali Das, a student of VIP Nagar High School, who is appearing for HS exams, was found digging in the charred debris of her gutted house and looking for her study materials.“Everything was lost. I am thinking how to appear for my history paper, slated on Tuesday. The exam was passing off well and only the history paper is left. How will I revise my studies as my textbook was gutted along with other study materials,” cried Das.
Class X boy Bubai Sarkar said, “My admit and registration cards were gutted. Without these documents, I shall not be able to pursue my Plus-II studies. I had gone to a friend’s house when the fire broke out. My father informed me about the fire over mobile phone and I rushed back here and found our house was up in flames. ”
Another student appearing for Class XII boards from a local school, Suparna Mondal, was on the verge of losing her consciousness when she saw flames leaping out of her house. “The disaster happened in the last leg of my board exam. My books, academic documents and other stationery items used for studies were lost in the fire. I don’t know the process of applying for duplicate admit and registration cards. I fear that I may have to lose a year as a result of the disaster,” she said.
Madhyamik students Prayag Mondal and Hariprasad Mondal also lost their academic documents and books in the fire. Pritam Mondal, a Class VII student, said, “My books, pencil box and school uniforms were all destroyed.”
