BATHINDA: On a call by two farmer forums Kisan Majdoor Morcha and SKM (Non-Political), effigies of World Trade Organisation (WTO), corporates were burnt on Monday, at the start of WTO 13th Ministerial Conference Abu Dhabi. The protests were held in hundreds of places across 13 states apart from Shambhu and Khanauri borders in Punjab.
At the Shambhu border life-size effigies of the WTO were burnt amidst sloganeering. Farmer leaders raised voice accusing the policies of WTO to be anti-farmer.
The Morcha once again strongly demanded that the Punjab government should register a case against the killers of young farmer Shubhkaran Singh and take appropriate action against them. If Punjab government does not do this even now, then the farmers will stand against this attitude, said Kisan Mazdoor Morcha convener Sarvan Singh Pandher.
