NOIDA: Clogged sewers, no water drainage, lack of sanitation, and unkempt parks are a few of the woes that the residents of Sector 51 have been complaining about. Residents said that the prob – lems have been persisting despite multiple complaints. Noida Authority CEO Loke – sh M visited some areas in the city last weekend and noted problems with sewers, waste, and slow pace of work in others.
Sanjeev Kumar, RWA gen – eral secretary of Sector 51, complained that there is no proper arrangement for water drainage in the sector. “The problem worsens during rainy days when water overflows from the already clogged drains, turning the sector roads into canals. We continuously sent pictures of the problem to the Authority for a week. However, Noida Authority has paid no attention,” said Kumar
Anil Prakash Ranotra, the RWA president of the sector, mentioned that the entire sector is swept every two days. “It has been many years since the cleaning and sweeping in the sector happened on a daily basis. After sweeping the streets one day, the sweepers refuse to do it again the next day, citing that they did it the previous day. This behavior has left residents at the mercy of the sweeper’s whims, with no action to address the issue,” said Ranotra.
Overflowing sewers have become a common issue in several sectors of the city. However, the problem in Sector 51 is different. Due to the wrong slope and construction, the sewer water flows back when it is full. “The problem persists despite numerous complaints and meetings with the Authority officials,” said Kumar, adding that other issues such as sewerage, water, sanitation, unkempt parks, and lack of tree pruning are also not being managed. In his visit to the city last weekend, Noida Authority CEO Lokesh M directed the area manager and staff to be held responsible if the problems are not addressed in time.
