Cyber Fraud Accused Bought Jewellery and Furniture Worth Lakhs | Kanpur News – Times of India

Kanpur: The Crime Branch recorded the statement of the main accused of cyber fraud of Rs 1.25 crore of Labour department portal breach in Kanpur. The accused is in jail.
The accused revealed that furniture worth Rs 2 lakh was purchased with the fraudulently withdrawn money, which is in Raipur, Chhattisgarh. He also informed about the purchase of jewellery, the price of which is estimated to be more than Rs 5 lakhs.On the basis of the statements, the Cyber Cell will now apply for police custody remand in the court on Monday.
To recall, a fraud of Rs. 1.25 crore in Kanya Vivah Yojana scheme run by the Uttar Pradesh Building and Construction Workers Welfare Board was reported wherein the fraudsters transferred the aforesaid amount to the accounts of fake beneficiaries and later in their own accounts. The frauds had sent the amount to 201 ineligible persons twice on January 29.
Cyber Police and Crime Branch had arrested the mastermind Udit Mishra, his brother Ankit Mishra, alleged girlfriend Nancy Thakur, Yasin, Lalit Kashyap and education department accountant Vinay Dixit in this connection and sent them to jail.
Cyber police station in-charge Harmeet Singh said that the statements of the main accused have been recorded in the jail on Saturday.
“Main accused Udit revealed about the purchase of furniture worth Rs 2 lakhs, jewelry worth more than Rs 5 lakhs, some pen drives and two laptops from the amount,” he said and added, “To recover all these items from the accused, an application will be made in the court on Monday for his police custody remand.”
