EPS accuses Stalin and DMK of turning a blind eye to drug smuggling in Tamil Nadu | Coimbatore News – Times of India

Salem: AIADMK general secretary Edappadi K Palaniswami has alleged that the DMK govt was turning a blind eye towards drug smuggling in Tamil Nadu because it was the ruling party men who were behind the illegal activity.
“All this while I thought drug smuggling and sales in TN could not be curtailed because of the inefficiency of DMK govt. Only now it has come to light that it was the DMK men who were in the drug cartel,” EPS said at a public meeting in Salem on Sunday.
Referring to Jafar Sadiq, a DMK functionary who was dismissed by DMK after his involvement in drug smuggling came to light, EPS said Stalin could neither control drug smuggling nor his partymen who indulge in anti-social activities.
“Drugs are sold everywhere. Students are getting addicted to it. I have been urging the DMK govt to control drugs for a long time. But nothing has been done,’’ he said.
Drug sale is not being curtailed because it’s DMK men who are selling them, he charged. After getting exposed, DMK has dismissed one functionary who was involved in drug smuggling, he said.
“If this situation continues, then TN will become a hotbed of drug smuggling,” EPS warned.
Responding to charges of chief minister M K Stalin that the Centre has not allotted flood relief for TN, EPS blamed DMK and its alliance MPs for not stalling the Parliament session on the issue.
