New Delhi: Three people were rescued on Sunday after a fire broke out at a four-storey building allegedly due to a short-circuit in southeast Delhi’s Lajpat Nagar.
Delhi Fire Service (DFS) received a call around 1.57am about the fire. “Five fire tenders were rushed to the spot. Upon arrival, it was discovered that some occupants were trapped inside. Firefighters successfully rescued three people, including two elderly, one of whom had a disability,” said a senior official.
“All trapped persons on the upper floors of the building were also safely evacuated,” the official said, adding that Pratap Juneja (76), Savitri Juneja (74), and Raj (18) experienced breathing difficulties due to smoke inhalation and were rushed to the hospital.
The blaze, which originated in the clothing storage area on of the building’s first floor, was contained in around an hour and half, the official added. TNN
