Jalandhar: Former Australian Prime Minister Tony Abbott presided over as the chief guest at the 11th annual convocation of Lovely Professional University on Sunday. Over 60,000 graduating students received degrees in diverse domains at the ceremony. During the convocation, Abbott recognised the achievements of 102 gold medallists and 555 PhD scholars, while also acknowledging the performance of 567 meritorious students who excelled in academics and co-curricular activities. An honorary doctorate was also conferred upon the former Australian PM.

Phagwara: On the occasion of Vishwakarma Jayanti, the management of Vishwakarma temple in Phagwara on Sunday announced to expand its existing medical facilities to a 50-bed charitable hospital soon. The event was attended by dignitaries, including former chief minister Charanjit Singh Channi, local MLA Balwwinder Singh Dhaliwal, AAP constituency in-charge Joginder Singh Mann and BJP state vice-president Fateh Jang Singh Bajwa.
