Light Rain Forecast in Delhi, Below Normal Temps Expected | Delhi News – Times of India

NEW DELHI: Parts of Delhi and adjoining areas are likely to see very light rain to drizzle on Monday evening even as the minimum temperature saw slight dip while the maximum temperature soared by about three degrees on Sunday.
“There is a western disturbance which might cause very light rain or drizzle at a few places in the city and other parts of NCR. However, no significant impact would be seen due to this western disturbance. The maximum temperature will further rise and there will be a rising trend,” said Kuldeep Srivastava, scientist, India Meteorological Department (IMD).
The minimum temperature was 8.3 degrees Celsius, four notches below normal, against 8.7 degrees Celsius a day earlier. The maximum temperature was 27 degrees Celsius, normal of the season, against 24.6 degrees Celsius a day earlier.
According to IMD, the maximum and minimum temperature on Monday may hover around 26 and 9 degrees Celsius, respectively.
Meanwhile, the city’s air quality deteriorated to a poor level towards afternoon and improved to moderate by evening.
The air quality index (AQI), on a scale of 0 to 500, was 192 on Sunday, same as a day earlier. The AQI is expected to deteriorate to poor again on Monday.
“The air quality is likely to be in poor category on Feb 26 and moderate category from Feb 27 to Feb 28. The outlook for subsequent 6 days: The air quality is likely to be in moderate to poor category… The predominant surface wind is likely to be coming from north directions in Delhi with wind speed up to 6 kmph, generally cloudy sky and possibility of very light rain/drizzle towards night at one or two places on Feb 26,” stated the IITM’s decision support system.
