Lok Sabha elections: DMK, CPI fail to reach consensus on seat sharing | Chennai News – Times of India

CHENNAI: The second round of talks between DMK and CPI held in Chennai on Monday did not yield the desired result.
“The talks were completely satisfactory, but there is nothing to inform you (media). We can inform you about the allocation of seats only after March 3,” CPI MP K Subbarayan, who headed the party’s committee on seat sharing, told reporters.
The first round of talks between DMK and CPI was held on Feb 3. CPI submitted a list of constituencies where it wished to contest. In 2019, the party contested in Tirupur and Nagapattinam constituencies.
Subburayan said they had demanded an additional seat from the DMK. He was evasive when reporters asked him about CPI’s demand for an additional Rajya Sabha seat.
For the upcoming Lok Sabha election, DMK had so far allocated two seats for its alliance partners, one each for IUML (Ramanathapuram constituency) and Kongu Makkal Desiya Katchi (Namakkal constituency).
Still, the deadlock prevails in talks with CPI, CPM and MDMK. A second round of talks between DMK and Congress is yet to take place.
