Patna: Leader of opposition in state assembly Tejashwi Prasad Yadav on Sunday slammed CM Nitish Kumar over his frequent flip-flops.
“The CM’s flip-flops are proving disastrous for the state. It hinders the state’s progress,” Tejashwi told mediapersons here before leaving for north Bihar districts to hold road shows as part of the second phase of his ‘Jan Vishwas Yatra’.
Tejashwi said the small group of ministers in the newly-formed NDA govt was overburdened with responsibilities due to delay in cabinet expansion. The NDA govt was formed in the state on January 28 as Nitish switched sides for the third time in little over three years.
“Nitish dumps all those who help him run the govt in the state, be it the RJD or the BJP. This time, his govt has survived with the support of Jitan Ram Manjhi’s HAM(S) legislators,” Tejashwi said. HAM(S) has four members in the state assembly.
Tejashwi mocked JD(U) leaders’ claims that the CM could switch sides umpteen times in the interest of the state. “I wonder how this (switchover) is in state’s interest. People making such claims are not aware of its seriousness. Anyway, that is their opinion,” he said.
“A month has passed since the NDA govt was formed in the state, but the CM is yet to expand his cabinet. This is a bigger issue, and the CM must explain it to the masses since it is hampering the state’s growth,” Tejashwi said.
“CM ab ub chuke hain, kaam me man nahi lag raha hai; janata ub chuki hai, party ke log ub chuke hain, sahyogi ub chuke hain aur adhikari bhi ub chuke hai (CM doesn’t look interested in running the govt. People of the state, CM’s party men, his allies and even the officials have lost interest in Nitish),” Tejashwi said.
Earlier in the day, Tejashwi launched the second phase of his ‘Jan Vishwas Yatra’ with a focus on holding road shows and street corner meetings to convey his message to masses across the state, besides inviting people for March 3 rally of the Grand Alliance to be held at Patna’s Gandhi Maidan.
In the first phase, he covered 15 districts in four days and held rallies. In the second phase, however, he made certain changes in his programme to cover the remaining 23 districts quickly to make preparations for the GA’s proposed rally in Patna which will be attended among others by RJD chief Lalu Prasad, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and CPI-M general secretary Sitaram Yechury.
