Patna: With Lok Sabha elections round the corner, top BJP leaders are set to crisscross the state and hold rallies in the next one week, thereby heating up the state’s political scene. Leader of opposition in state assembly Tejashwi Prasad Yadav is already on a ‘yatra’ to garner people’s support ahead of the elections.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will also visit the state on March 2 to launch several projects and address public meetings, state BJP president Samrat Choudhary said on Sunday.
Similarly, Union home minister Amit Shah will address a rally in Patna’s Paliganj block on March 5.
“So far, his programme is scheduled on March 5. However, it may also be postponed to March 9,” state party spokesperson Manoj Sharma said.
Union defence minister Rajnath Singh is scheduled to address intellectuals from north Bihar districts and also address a rally. Singh will first interact with party workers and intellectuals in Sitamarhi after which he will hold cluster meeting with important party leaders from four neighbouring Lok Sabha constituencies in Siwan. Finally, he will address a public meeting in Darbhanga’s Alinagar, a party leader said.
“The top BJP leaders’ visits have nothing to do with Tejashwi’s yatra. BJP is known for acting this way during the election time,” BJP spokesperson Sharma said.
A mega rally of the opposition is also scheduled to be held at Patna’s Gandhi Maidan on March 3. Prominent opposition leaders who are likely to attend the rally are RJD president Lalu Prasad, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi and CPI-M general secretary Sitaram Yechury.
