Rail Terminal Construction on Hardinge Park Land to Begin Soon | Patna News – Times of India

Patna: The ambitious plan of the railways to build a passenger train terminal on the vacant Hardinge Park land adjacent to the Patna Junction here is to be kicked off soon.
The blueprint of the proposed terminal, which is at the advanced stage for its approval by the Railway Board, will prove a boon for the passengers in the days to come, said Danapur divisional railway manager Jayant Kumar Choudhary.
Talking to TOI here on Saturday, Choudhary said railways will build a separate suburban train terminal on the Hardinge Park land to decongest the huge flow of traffic from the Patna Junction.
“Under the plan, railways will build four to five platforms on Hardinge Park land for the smooth movement of suburban trains,” he said, adding that the whole project will cost Rs 90 crore. The Railway Board has approved the proposal to build the terminal on the vacant 4.8-acre land at Hardinge Park to run MEMU passenger trains.
“As per the plan envisaged, railways will run mail and express trains either originating from or passing through the Patna Junction only while all MEMU passenger trains will originate and terminate at the Hardinge Park land,” the DRM said, adding that the railways has focused more on developing its infrastructure to ensure faster connectivity of local train movements.
According to the Danapur ADRM Adhar Raj, the Danapur division needs another terminal to segregate mail/express trains from MEMU passenger trains.
“Thus, Hardinge Park terminal will give great relief to the local commuters,” Raj said.
According to the sources, railways has made initial consultations with technical experts to ensure that the crowd management system is strictly maintained at the proposed new terminal land keeping in view that it is located close to the main roads leading towards Patna Junction and other prime locations of the city.
