Panaji: The Goa Waste Management Corporation’s (GWMC) technical advisory committee has qualified three bidders to set up a solid waste management facility at Bainguinim. The GWMC will invite financial bids before finalising the company to set up the plant.
A senior officer said that the corporation will select the technology that will be used for the plant based on the presentations made by the bidders.
The GWMC will evaluate the financial bids and accordingly issue the letter of intent to the lowest bidder as per the tender conditions.
The corporation had floated a tender for setting up a 250-TPD capacity garbage treatment plant at Bainguinim. The request for qualification (RFQ) was processed, and three companies were shortlisted.
The GWMC inspection committee visited the bidders’ facilities in April 2023. Based on the recommendation of the committee, the bidders were called for a presentation before an expert committee including BARC retired scientist Sharad Kale and IIT-Bombay professor Munish Chandel on May 2, 2023.
The successful bidder will have to design, handle engineering, financing, construction, supply, installation, commissioning, performance run, operation and maintenance for a period of 10 years.
In 2008, the Corporation of the City of Panaji (CCP) acquired the land at Bainguinim to set up the waste management plant, and in 2017, the land was handed over to the GWMC.
