Coimbatore: The RS Puram police on Saturday arrested two transgenders for stealing 2,000 from a college student on the pretext of blessing him on DB Road.
A police officer identified the arrested as R Karuppu alias Kavya, 32, and C Paramasivam alias Shivani, 35, of Kavundampalayam. He said the duo were in the habit of visiting various shops for seeking alms.“They met K Iyyanar, 20, a college student from Cheran Maa Nagar, on Friday night while he was standing in front of an apartment on DB Road and asked him to hand them over an ₹1 coin. When he gave them the coin, they blessed him by keeping the same in the pocket of his pants and took away ₹2,000 from the pocket without his knowledge,” the officer said.
When the youth found out that the amount was missing from his pants’ pocket, he lodged a complaint with the RS Puram police, who registered a case and arrested them on Saturday. TNN
