Pune: Deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar on Sunday said that he split the NCP due to the insistence from the party workers, for development and for its future.
“Development works can be sped up only if the state and Union govt represent the same school of thought. People should vote for an MP from Baramati who sympathises with Union govt,” he said.
He was speaking at a farmers’ rally in Indapur which is one of the six constituencies under the Baramati Lok Sabha seat.
Pawar said that after joining the state govt, he has tried to resolve problems pertaining to grape farmers and water scarcity in Baramati. He reiterated that voters should not be emotional when they cast the ballot in the upcoming Lok Sabha election.
The deputy chief minister said that the country’s leadership is in the able hands of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
More than 65% of citizens want him to be PM for the third time.
Projects like affordable housing, financial aid to farmers and other schemes have worked, and the NCP should work in association with the BJP and Shiv Sena party workers to win 400 Lok Sabha seats, he added.
“Things have changed in the state now. There is no unity in the opposition parties as its leaders are not on the same page. We cannot tell voters that development is not happening in our constituency just because we are not in power. They will not accept that excuse. Hence, I have joined hands with the ruling parties to expedite projects,” he said.
A Rs 1,500 crore tunnel from Khadakwasla to Phursungi will be planned for better water supply and distribution from the dam, which will be of great help to farmers, he added.
“The state will give land adjacent to the canal to Pune Municipal Corporation. A budgetary provision of Rs 500 crore per year in the civic budget will be made for three years to fund this project,” he said.
Water from Mulshi will be provided to Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad after the height of the dam is raised. Funds for land acquisition for this project will be given by state govt, he added.
