2 Asr trust officials in vigilance net | Chandigarh News – Times of India

Chandigarh: The Punjab vigilance bureau on Monday arrested junior engineer (JE) Jagjit Singh and sales clerk Sanjiv Kumar, both posted at Amritsar Improvement Trust, for allegedly accepting Rs 50,000 as bribe.
The two accused were arrested following a complaint filed by Inderjit Singh of Nava Kot in Amritsar district. The complainant had approached the vigilance bureau of the Patiala range, alleging that the two officials had been demanding a bribe of Rs 50,000 from him in lieu of issuing a no-objection certificate (NOC) about the ownership of a plot at the Railway Link Road in Amritsar.
After preliminary inquiry, a vigilance bureau team from Amritsar range laid a trap and the JE and the sales clerk were arrested red-handed while accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000 from the complainant in the presence of two official witnesses.
An FIR under the Prevention of Corruption Act has been registered at vigilance bureau police station, Amritsar range, in this regard, said a vigilance bureau official.
