Hyderabad: The Andhra Cricket Association (ACA) has clarified why the management changed captains after the first match. In January 2024, the chairman of the selection committee proposed a new captain due to Vihari’s status as an Indian prospect. Vihari expressed appreciation, leading to Ricky Bhui being named the new captain, stated an ACA release signed by their media manager D Raja Gopal.
It also stated that they have received a complaint from a specific player that Vihari had verbally abused him in public. “Complaints were received from teammates, support staff and ACA administrators about Vihari’s use of foul language and abusive behaviour. During the Mushtaq Ali tournament the Andhra team manager lodged complaints about internal groupism.”
ACA also said that Vihari frequently sought no-objection certificate to move to other states and added a thorough inquiry would be conducted into all complaints.TNN
