City set to become world-class railway hub | Lucknow News – Times of India

LUCKNOW: Defence minister and Lucknow MP Rajnath Singh expressed joy on completion of his dream project – the revamping of Gomtinagar railway station – on Monday. He said Lucknow is now positioned to become a world-class railway hub, showcasing modern amenities and infrastructure.
Speaking at an event, Singh highlighted the significance of the Amrit Bharat Station Scheme in Uttar Pradesh, which involves the redevelopment of 554 stations and the inauguration and foundation stone-laying of 1,500 railway overbridges and underpasses, amounting to an investment of Rs 41,000 crore.
Singh reminisced about the inception of the Gomtinagar project, recalling how he intervened during a budget speech by the then railway minister Sadanand Gowda to ensure Lucknow was included in the list of stations earmarked for transformation into world-class facilities. He praised the collaborative efforts that overcame obstacles, leading to the fulfillment of his vision.
The defence minister lauded the completion of the Gomtinagar railway station redevelopment, costing Rs 378 crore, emphasising that the project was executed with efficiency, utilizing only a quarter of the estimated budget. He urged the public and railway officials to explore the newly transformed station and witness its grandeur.
Singh also provided updates on various infrastructure projects in Lucknow.
He announced that several flyovers were under construction, with more approved for development, contributing to the city’s improved connectivity.
He revealed that Lucknow will soon become the manufacturing hub for BrahMos missiles.Singh shared about the upcoming inauguration of projects by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi in March, including the Ring Road, which will further enhance connectivity within and around Lucknow.
He reassured citizens that the delayed flyover projects would be completed within the next few days, promising continued progress for the city’s infrastructure development.
