Gurgaon: Non-government organisations (NGOs) seeking opportunities to work for schools will now be able to get data — of any shortlisted school — only through the department of school education and not the school directly.
The directorate of school education has issued communique to all district elementary education officers (DEEOs), block resource coordinators (BRCs), block education officers (BEOs), and foundational literacy and numeracy (FLN) coordinators to refrain from independently sharing data related to students, teachers and schools with any non-government organisations (NGOs).
NGOs must approach the department directly to request such information.
Authorities have taken this decisive action in response to reports of NGOs making unsolicited visits to public schools and district education offices to gather information on student enrolment, classifications, academic performance, and other school operations.
The directive highlights that the successful implementation of the NIPUN Haryana Mission by school teachers and other parties involved is being compromised. This is due to some NGOs obtaining various types of data from schools and education officers at the block and district levels, which interferes with teaching duties as it requires time and effort to provide this information.
It further emphasised that NGOs in need of data should reach out to the department, which will supply the necessary information based on what is available in the department’s app, ensuring strict adherence to these guidelines.
An official said, “Numerous NGOs active in the state’s educational sector require data on different facets of school education, such as student enrolment, teacher availability, available facilities, student health screenings, midday meal programmes, academic results and performances. Consequently, NGO representatives visit schools and education officer offices to obtain this information.”
