Chennai: Chairman of Tamil Nadu state commission for SCs and STs Justice P R Shivakumar on Monday asked police to provide additional security to the family of G Pravin, a dalit youth who was hacked to death by his brother-in-law in the city.
Shivakumar along with the vice-chairman of the commission, M Punitha Pandian, visited the youth’s house in Pallikaranai.Shivakumar said that he had asked police to provide additional support to the youth’s family.
Shivakumar also expressed satisfaction over the action taken and recommended that the state provide a govt job to Sharmila, Pravin’s wife.
Pravin married Sharmila, of Yadava community, four months ago and was on Saturday killed by Sharmila’s brother Dinesh and his friends, who opposed the marriage.
