CHENNAI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will on Tuesday visit Madurai, Tuticorin and Tirunelveli and launch multiple projects, including the foundation laying for Outer Harbour Container Terminal at VO Chidambaranar Port in Tuticorin. After attending a political event in Palladam, Tiruppur, Modi will reach Madurai in the evening. Ahead of his visit, around 5,000 police personnel have been deployed in Madurai.

After attending a political event in Palladam, Tiruppur, the Prime Minister will reach Madurai on Tuesday evening.
He will participate in the programme ‘Creating the Future – Digital Mobility for Automotive MSME Entrepreneurs’ and address the MSME entrepreneurs working in the automotive sector on the TVS School premises.
Modi will arrive at Madurai airport on Tuesday evening and head to TVS Lakshmi School to take part in the ‘digital mobility initiative for automotive MSMEs’ programme. He would then stay overnight in Madurai before heading to Tuticorin on Wednesday morning. In Tuticorin, the PM will inaugurate various projects, including laying the foundation for the outer harbour container terminal at VO Chidambaranar Port.
He will halt at Madurai staying in a star hotel in Pasumalai. Ahead of his visit, around 5,000 police personnel have been deployed in Madurai. Elaborate security arrangements were made, especially at important public places, including Madurai airport and the Meenakshi Amman temple, under the guidance of N Kannan, Inspector General of Police (IGP), South zone. Operating drones has also been banned in Madurai for two days.
The Prime Minister will leave for Tuticorin on Wednesday. In a function organized at Tuticorin Harbour, he will lay the foundation stone for Outer Harbour Container Terminal and inaugurate various projects such as a desalination plant, hydrogen production and bunkering facility, turning VOC Port into a first green hydrogen hub in the country.
The Prime Minister will also commission the country’s first indigenous green hydrogen fuel cell inland waterway vessel under Harit Nauka initiative. He will also dedicate tourist facilities at 75 lighthouses across ten coastal states and union territories during the programme.
He will dedicate the Vanchi Maniyachi-Nagercoil double line and Melapalayam-Aralvaimozhi section to the nation. He would also dedicate major road projects in Tamil Nadu the Jittandahalli-Dharmapuri section, Meensurutti-Chidambaram, Oddanchatram-Madathukulam and Nagapattinam-Thanjavur sections. After the event in Tuticorin Port, the Prime Minister will head to Tirunelveli where he will address a public meeting before leaving for Thiruvananthapuram.
