NEW DELHI: A 23-year-old married woman committed suicide by jumping from the balcony of her 7th-floor apartment in Ahlcon Apartments, Sector-3, Vaishali, on Monday night.
She took this step after finding out that her 25-year-old husband died of a heart attack during a visit to the zoo. Identified as Anjali Ahiluwali, she resided in flat number 703 with her husband Abhishek, his parents and sister.
Swatantra Singh, ACP of Indirapuram, reported that around 10 pm on Monday, the police received information about a woman jumping from a flat.
A police team promptly reached the spot and transported her to a private hospital for medical treatment. Later, she was referred to Safdarjung Hospital in Delhi for further treatment.
Unfortunately, around 8 am the following day, the police received news of her demise due to injuries sustained during treatment.
“Initial investigations revealed that on Monday, the couple had visited Chidiyaghar in Delhi to spend time together. However, Abhishek experienced chest pain there, prompting Anjali to call for help. She took him to GTB Hospital for treatment, and later he was referred to Safdarjung Hospital.
Upon their return home in the evening, along with her mother-in-law and sister-in-law, Abhishek lost consciousness. Shortly after Anjali left the hospital, doctors declared him dead,” Singh explained.
“Abhishek’s body arrived at the house around 9:30 pm. Upon seeing it, Anjali locked herself in her bedroom and, a few minutes later, jumped from the balcony. A security guard noticed the body after hearing some noise and alerted the family members,” he added.
