Sometimes I get bored with traditional rectangular or square shapes for wall art. That was the inspiration for this piece. I decided I wanted to make orders a triangular-shaped object, especially one with a hole in the middle. I just loved the idea of a different shaped object. This was the result. The piece was made using recycled wood lath found at my favorite salvage store, Second Chance, Inc. in Baltimore. The lath is laid out in a triangular shape and then the lath was stained in one of four colors — ebony, dark brown, light brown or white. All the lath was adhered to a plywood base which provides strength and durability. The lath is arranged in a manner that creates the interesting optical illusion of space or motion. The sides are trimmed with reclaimed wood lath that has not been stained. This would be the perfect piece to present a “different” contrast to any entryway, game room, family room or even bedroom. It would compliment any decor because it has subtle and neutral hues that fit in easily with any decorating scheme.
