Early American copy of "Sketches by Boz'" - Illustrative of Every-day Life and Every-day People by CHARLES DICKENS. Circa 1850's (there is no date of publication stated); T.B. Peterson and Brothers "Uniform Edition of Charles Dickens' Works"; Philadelphia. The book features 21 wonderful full-page illustrations by George Cruikshank. Affixed to the front pastedown is a Charles Dickens "Tribute to Genius" stamp.

Condition:
Clean covers and spine with no stains; edge wear to the boards; wear to the top and bottom edges of the spine; cloth tears at the corners. Tight binding with no cracks and no loose pages. The pages are in excellent condition - clean with orders no tears or stains; inscription dated 1864 on front end paper...no other writing found; small foxing spot at the outer edge of the first 2 illustrations preceding the title page, and the tissue paper between them. Dickens tribute stamp affixed to the front pastedown. Apart from the spine wear, the book is in very good condition.
