Dahl treated Rachmaninoff while he was suffering from a deep depression and creative block after the failure of his first symphony. Despite his state, Rachmaninoff was able to recover and write one of the best piano concertos in history. Rachmaninoff's story continues to be an inspiration for composers and orders artists today.
