This is a stunning set of five antique French books in faded "Midnight/Inky" blue tones. They are aged to perfection and will give you an instant "old library" effect. They can be used as photo and film props, as well as table centrepieces for boho weddings and shabby chic displays. They have gathered a few pencil marks and names inside the covers over the years. I've left them exactly as I found them because they're authentic.

Most importantly they have that "old book smell" reminiscent of libraries and bookshops from a by-gone era - fabulously comforting.

The five books are all hard cover editions, they are distressed from years of genuine use and some of the pages are delicate and loose.

The titles are:

Cours de Thèmes et Exercises Latins, M. Georges Edon (1889 edition.) This 133 years old book is a study of Latin grammar and verb conjugation. This book has the original Latin words and phrases and texts with translations, notes and commentaries in French.

Arithmétique, cours moyen (1926 edition.) This book contains 3450 mathematical exercises and problems, alongside 450 mental arithmetic calculations for orders children of classes 6ème et 5ème. Fractions, square roots, percentages, volumes, weights, measures and geometry all feature in this school book for children, aged 10 - 13 years.

Le Secrétaire Pratique ou Traité Complet de la Correspondance, MM. Durand et Meslins (1939 edition.) This book is a complete guide to administration of the early 1900's. How to word letters (everything from condolences, invitations and congratulations to petitions to ministers, military officials, solicitors and directors.) It's all here, how to write testaments, wills, and letters for private affairs. This is the book which ordered polite society of the late 1800's and early 1900's. Truly fascinating and still useful today! This book has a "miniature front cover" as the label on the spine.

Notre Littérature Etudiée Dans Les Textes, Tome II, Le XVIIIè et le XIXè Siècle. Marcel Braunschvig (1937 edition.) This is an enormous book, packed full of famous French literary works of the 18th century and 19th centuries. There are selected works by all of Frances most famous writers, Voltaire, Jean-Jacques Rousseau, Victor Hugo, Honoré de Balzac, Alfred de Musset, Chateaubriand and Diderot to name but a few!

Sciences Naturelles, troisème année, M. Billard, Ch. Touren et A. Billard (1935 edition.) Zoology and Botany, designed for children aged 11-13. This book is packed full of information and illustrations on the anatomy of the human body, and everything from the function of our organs to the digestive system and our senses. It has chapters on plant structures, germination and reproduction, algae and fungus. There is also a section on food and personal hygiene, water purification, managing infections and diseases, disinfectants and everything in-between. Once you pick this book up it is impossible to put down again!

To display them altogether, in a bundle, you will need a minimum space of 14cms/ 5½" high x 20cms/ 7¾" long x 14cms/ 5½" deep.
They weigh 1.9kgs/ 4.2 lbs.
