Blenko Glass, Don Shepherd, Two 826L Tall Flat orders Top Cylinder Vases, Sapphire Blue

Designed by Don Shepherd and made by Blenko Glass, these two gorgeous tall cylinder vases with flat round rims are numbered 826L. A beautiful sapphire blue in color, they are cased in crystal clear glass. The 82 signifies the year they were made, and the "L" stands for the Large version. Tall and slender, they are weighted with a heavy base to counter balance the extravagantly large rim (weight is about 4 1/2 lbs. each). I suspect the possibility of them being knocked over accounts for their relative rarity.

As you can see in picture #3, one is slightly taller than the other. Vase A is 13 5/8"tall, vase B is 13 3/4" tall. Vase A has a rim that is 8 1/4" in orders diameter, vase B has a rim that is 8 1/8" in diameter. Both vases have bases that measure 2 3/4" across.

Both vases have their original Blenko Silver Sticker Label, stating "Blenko, Handmade".

Condition of both is basically excellent, although each has an "in the manufacture" flaw. Vase A has an enclosed bubble in the base (see picture #9). Vase B has an enclosed 1 1/4" long air pocket in the rim, (see picture #8), plus some wear scratches on the base.
