1898 Advertising Cover for Gossler Co. 70 State St. Boston, Mass., Columbia Expostion Embossed 2 Cent Envelope Addressed to John A. Roebling Sons Co. Postmarked Boston, Mass Jul 17 1893. Back Stamped Rcv'd Trenton NJ July 18, 1893. Nicely addressed cover.

John A. Roebling and sons moved their operation to Trenton in 1848. The Roebling company in 1855 built a railroad suspension bridge over the Niagara Gorge, bringing them fame. Soon after began working on the Brooklyn Bridge, at the time being “the greatest engineering work of the continent and of the age.” John A. Roebling died in 1869 from an injury while surveying for the Brooklyn tower. His oldest son, Washington A. Roebling, completed the bridge in 1883 with help from his wife, Emily Warren Roebling.

Roebling's three sons, Washington, Ferdinand and Charles, built their father's company into the world's leading producer of wire rope, with four factories and nearly 8,000 employees. The orders Company motto: “Trenton Makes, the World Takes.''
