I purchase my fabric from retail stores in the US. When I orders travel, if I see a quilt shop, I stop. If you are a quilter, you know this phenomenon. Occasionally I buy from US on-line stores. I wash my fabrics to remove chemicals, to bleed out color, and to pre-shrink. No carcinogenic chemicals have been added to make the fabric "fire retardant." The fabrics have written on the selvages "not intended for children's sleepwear," because they have not been treated with these harmful fire retardant chemicals. Therefore, I pass on this safety warning that this product is NOT intended for children's sleep use, but for decorative purposes only. I am enclosing an excerpt from an article about the use of fire retardants in fabric.

Are Flame Retardants Safe? Growing Evidence Says ‘No'
New studies have underscored the potentially harmful health effects of the most widely used flame retardants, found in everything from baby blankets to carpets. Health experts are now calling for more aggressive action to limit these chemicals, including cutting back on highly flammable, petroleum-based materials used in many consumer products.
